Community Youth Recognition Event     Map

The Kick-Off event for Tucson Youth Week was a community-wide celebration in Himmel Park. Approximately 1,000 people gathered to recognize Tucson youth for positive contributions they have made to the community.

Event Highlights Included:

• The Community Message Board—A traveling art display containing youth names and personal messages to the community.

• Door Prizes—Youth who attended entered a drawing to win an iPod Shuffle, a digital camera, and an autographed UofA basketball!

• Music—Seth O’Brien, disc jockey from KRQ, played music.

• Free Food and Drink—Eegee’s sandwiches and slushee drinks were served.

• Opportunities to Get Involved—Local organizations and the Every Voice in Action team helped attendees find their passion and become an even bigger part of the solution.

• Tucson Youth Week Poetry Contest—The winners from each age category read their poems about community issues.

This year we recognized 3,231 young people! Thank you for letting them know you value their contribution to our community!
